Dear Judah and my future grandchildren,
It is important, as well as freeing, to understand that God’s word is sufficient for you concerning how to live life. God knows you and the rest of the world completely. There is nothing He doesn’t know. There is nothing that He can’t do. And there is nothing good that He withholds from His children. He knows that this world is messed up. He knows that we are messed up. In fact He knows more about how badly we are messed up than we do ourselves.
I’ve previously talked about the Law and its purpose to show us God’s will. It also shows us what is for our good. The important thing to know here is that God’s word is sufficient. You don’t need to add to God’s word or take away from it in order to live a better life, in any sense.
In fact adding to God’s word or taking away from it is actually a form of rebellion or self righteousness. It is really saying that we have the right to judge God. It’s like saying, “God you didn’t get it quite right here. Let me help you out.” Can anything be more arrogant than telling God He doesn’t know what He is doing?
Please trust that God has given you everything you need to know about him and living the abundant life in His word. Trust it. Believe it. Make it part of who you are.
You shall not add to the word that I command you, nor take from it, that you may keep the commandments of the Lord your God that I command you.
