Refreshment to Your Bones

Dear Judah and my future grandchildren,

Obedience to God is most important because God is worthy of all our obedience.  He knows everything and knows what is best.  Because He loves us He wants the best for us.  Obeying God is easy when we enjoy and understand what God is doing.  It is hard when we don’t understand and life is difficult but that is when it is most important because that is when our choices can have the biggest negative impact.  When we don’t understand what God is doing we are more likely to choose to do or think things because of our ideas, not God’s.  If our ideas are not in agreement with God’s then it only leads to misery in the long run.  

Trust in the Lord with all your heart,

    and do not lean on your own understanding.

In all your ways acknowledge him,

    and he will make straight your paths.

Be not wise in your own eyes;

    fear the Lord, and turn away from evil. 

It will be healing to your flesh

    and refreshment to your bones.

Prov 3:5-8

God wants us to trust Him with our whole heart.  When you are old enough memorize the above verse, Proverbs 3:5-8.  It will get you through difficult times.

Remember also, when you fail to obey, and you will, repent and turn to God who loves you.  He will forgive all your sins and His Spirit will work in you to trust and obey Him more the next time.
