Persevere, stay close to Jesus

“Brother will betray brother to death, and a father his child. Children will rebel agains their parents and have them put to death.”

Mark 13:12,13

This is a frightening verse. How bad would the situation be for a brother to betray a brother, for a father to betray is son, or children to betray their parents? The pressure to renounce the Christ will be tremendous. Thus the need to have a strong faith that looks past the immediate pain and looks toward the eternal reward. That faith is grown through consistent time in the word, in prayer, strengthened by the Holy Spirit through obedience. This spurs me for my own walk and the walks of the ones I love, to pray more desperately, seek God with everything I have. It spurs me to know and cling to the promises of God that I am indeed His. I am not rescued by my righteousness but by His. The world and Satan can do nothing to change that. In fact they fight so hard because they can do nothing about that. They seek to take my vision off of those promises.

Lord, keep my heart and the hearts of my loved ones, on you always. Let your goodness shine on me and let me never forget that goodness. May joy of your salvation be my strength.

You are good and holy. There is none like you. May your name be glorified in all I think, say and do.

Yours,
Harvey
